Thieving gits

On the way home from Brimingham, early hours of Monday morning 3am stoppped at Warwick services to top up with fuel.

Filled her up £42, went in to pay - used my card. The guy was fiddling around with his chip and pin machine (dodgy)
Gave him my card, the tranaction seemed to be taking ages and he said that it had somehow voided itself and I would have to pay with another card. Eventually managed to get my other card to work. Thought it seemed a bit suspicious so asked for all the bits of paper that said void etc. Got them after a bit of a fight

Got home, checked my online banking, and yep - they have taken the money twice. Phoned them today and they are denying point blank that I even went there

In fact, the comment was "its only £42 what are you making such a fuss about"

Phoned the bank and they are refunding my money and taking it up with the garage.

Be careful, and if you're planning to fill up at the southbound Warwick services, use cash if you can.

Re: Thieving gits

I'd phone my local Trading Standards and reprt them if I was you - I'm sure they'll be happy to make a fuss about 'only' £42!

Re: Thieving gits

Personally I'd get back onto the garage and speak to someone a little more senior than the muppet in the call centre that said that. I am sure that it was a large company. Trading standards are unlikely to do much as the money has now been refunded to you and the matter is between bank and garage.

Benefit being two fold:

1. You might get a voucher

2. You will get immense satisfaction from dropping the little nerk in it - they will be able to trace the call and the culprit.

Re: Thieving gits

The bank are taking it up with the police, they had to refund my money immediately as I used chip and pin and had managed to get the void receipt. I suppose thats one good thing about the chip and pin system

Re: Thieving gits

Could this be the result of calling the police in? Hope so...

Re: Thieving gits

Good advice, I always cover the pin m/c/ cash m./c keypad with my hand and sort of lean under with the other hand and type the pin, paranoia? Dunno!

Yes, it seems that the bank have taken things further. It was a BP garage and I've been asked to give a statment.

Re: Thieving gits

ha ha, they got the little *astards

They have arrested 10 people, aparrently it was an agency that sent out staff to work on service stations forecourts.
Me and Skid Mark were driving past our local Texaco garage the other day when it got raided... we thought someone was refusing to pay for their fuel - but a sign was up the next day saying that they couldn't take cards, only cash - they had their machine taken away

Deport em all, thats what I say
