MOT testing station NE ??

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a Cobra friendly MOT testing station near Sunderland (I live in Houghton)?

I've just taken the Cob to a local tester and been told that it must undergo a cat/emission test (because that's what the computer/VOSA said) despite it being first registered prior to SVA - which I thought meant visual inspection only, like in previous tests.

It failed the emission test and he gave me the printout, but it looks like he needs a new 'ribbon' for his printer as I can't read anything on it, so I'm not sure how far off it was - though I do know it need a proper tune. He then had to abandon the test as he couldn't get the jack under the front of the car, though not before it also failed on the headlights being "not in good working order" - it has the Dax supplied Wipac lights that have always been useless - can anyone recommend an alternative?

Might be worth sending a personal message to Wrighty or Timsafc who are both in the Sunderland area. Failing that send me a PM with your details and I'll talk to my uncle who's an MOT tester in Sheepfolds next to the Stadium of Light. He's savvy with all things MOT and will sort the dodgy computer out.
