Chrome Alternator - Buying Advice

Need to get a new alternator for my SBC 383ci and thought I would go for a nice chromed one.

Does anyone have any heads up on where to get a good deal.

Anyone else purchased one that has feedback on overall look / quality of chroming etc.

Got mine with the engine from Re-Power in Lancing, West Sussex.

It works fine, Looks good quality and it's shiney. What more could you ask for!

Oh dear - I`ve had mine for 3 weeks - looks like I have another week of "shinyness"

You don`t have to be mental to build a kitcar - but it definitely helps.

Its only gone in one area and hasn't got much worse since, so it may just be a fault in the plating of mine.

Re: Chrome Alternator - Buying Advice

This type of alternator can be problematic. I've had some that have been brilliant and some that haven't worked from the word go.
i would say buy one from either repower or Real Steel etc. then if it packs up you know you haven't got to send it 3000 odd miles for an exchange one.

Did not know that you could. Who does it & how much?

I have a dodgy regulator. Been like it for over a year so who knows when it will pack up.

Have a look in the yellow pages, won't cost much.
