Hardtop Piccies

Anyone got any nice piccies of Cobras with hardtops? - I'm thinking Hawk/GD/DAX etc.

Cheers,
Pete.

Re: Hardtop Piccies

Cheers Guys !

Dave - your hardtop does look the absolute biz for a 427 - much nicer than anything else I've seen! The problem I have with the Dax though is whether you could fit a 2.5 inch underslung exhaust system and still have decent ground clearance (like you "allegedly" can on a GD/Crendon) ? Failing that, wonder if your h/t would fit a GD Mk IV !!

Re: Hardtop Piccies

Hi Pete.
Dax recommend that the lowest part of the chassis for ride height purposes is 5.25" at this point it is possible to have the top side of the exhaust at this level without it rubbing on the chassis (Exhaust inboard of the two inner rails).
So if you fit 2.5" exhausts your lowest ground clearence will be 2.75" which is 1.25" lower than the recommended max height for speed humps.
I have had a GD "ground" on one of my workshop ramps which has a 3" high chain guard/cross beam, though I don't know if the car had been back to GD for the geometry set up at that time.

Re: Hardtop Piccies

Due to the increased wheel sizes on the GD mk iv, there is a little more clearance than a mk111, perhaps 1 inch or so.

and Dave's hard top is a really nice piece, If I were going to use a hardtop, I would use Dave's one

Re: Hardtop Piccies

Pete,
I got caught out with my Dax over the pipe issue because I had already ordered it when I was told by Dax that they do not recommend underslung pipes and I did not want side pipes, but I have only ever had underslungs on mine, first a 2inch system which was OK but restrictive now I have the equivelant of 3 inch in oval section using Dr Gas pipes from the states and thier super slim silencers, this works fine and I very rearly bottom out, if you have a look at the Elvington 2005 pics then you get a good idea of how the pipes look from the shots Robert took of my car(KYY 155C, dark blue, twin white stipes, black helmet), also here is a shot of my brother driving at Marham track day, hope that helps, Simon
