She lives

Started her up for the first time today. Absolutely bl**dy fantastic. Can't wait to take her out now :drive: ! Apart from a leaking fuel connection into the pump, and the need to prime the system first, started no problems.

Made by day, glorious sun shine, bottle of stella, and the beast lives.

Dave

Re: She lives

Good on ya Dave! Great achievement. I'm almost at that stage too and the impatience is driving me around the bend. I'm waiting on my sidepipes coming before I start her up. I don't want to melt the body with the headers!

Re: She lives

Ain't it just one of the best sounds ever when it fires up for the first time?

(Apologies for the somewhat mangled english there!)

Re: She lives

Started my new engine only a week or so ago. Got it all ready then spent an hour wondering if i'd built it right, put all the wires back in the right place, hoses on tight and generally worrying. Turned the key and she started pretty much straight away, yippeee. Did 20 mins cam break in and off for a drive, used Wilf's recommendation of driving it hard for the break-in and apart from an oil pressure problem (bit of crap behind the pressure relief valve) it's been fine ever since, sounds so much better than before and slightly more powerful

Re: She lives

Tony - I thought that your favourite sound might just be the waiter saying "your jalfrezi sir"?

Re: She lives

Congrats Dave,

its great isnt it when all the hard work ( and money) starts to come together. If you felt good when you started it, just wait until youre driving home from the SVA all legal with the certificate.:drive:

Cheers,

Tony

Re: She lives

Well done that man, must confess to a certain amazement every time mine starts.

Wait while you hit the road, the sound when booting it gets more adictive every time you do it....now if I can just sort that clutch and get back out tonight

Re: She lives

cheers guys

still on a high now, I just want to keep starting her all the time and annoying the neighbours

Sound move bogster, the headers heated up a bit quicker than I was expecting, not good when you're wearing shorts ! but one more to chalk up to the war injuries :boohoo:

oil pressure, water temp and tacho working ok, so body back on at the weekend for the final time and full steam ahead to the finish :drive:

Just need england to win on saturday, jenson on sunday, and a hattrick !
