1st drive.

No real point to this post, had the AK for first drive under it`s own power and thought I`d share it with you all as the forum seems a tad quiet at the mo`

A grand total of 25 yards out and 25 back in again, felt great to have it moving.Probably a lot easier to see where I`m going once the seats are in

Should probably give some thought to washing the Honda as well

Tony,

Its looking good!! Whos going to be doing your trim?

Mine will be getting its windscreen in this weekend, so I'm only a bit behind you, that is if the hot air blower in the garage doesnt run out of gas first........

Cheers,

Tony

RE: 1st drive.

Tony.

Doug Sutton is doing the trim, works out around £650. for the leather work and seats etc.
Got carpet from Mark and Mary just north of Peterborough.£190 for all carpet inc. boot and the adhesive plus all door seals and the rubber trim for the boot and bonnet seals.

Know what you mean about the heater, my workshop was -2 degrees all day today!!

When I fitted my screen I found it helped to smear a little light oil on the underside of the rubber seal, this helped it "slide" over the scuttle easier, the rubber can be quite stiff in these sorts of temparatures,I found this helped to locate it better.Best of luck.

RE: 1st drive.

Hi Tony, never thought to ask the question but does anyone ever put sealant under the rubber seal or does it just mould itself to the body contour to keep out driven water? Cheers Trigger

RE: 1st drive.

I never used any sealant, don`t know if other people have though. The rubber is quite a snug fit and I think it should keep out most of any rain.
The other guys who`ve driven in the wet should be able to comment better

RE: 1st drive.

Guys.
Don't use sealer, no matter how careful you are it will look horrible.
If needed just put a spot of super glue at the ends where it lips up slightly on the escutcheon plates that fit at the base of the screen pillars.
