Water pump woes.

Ain't it just typical, absolutley glorious day yesterday (Saturday). Car all ready for the road with new hydraulic clutch, side pipes & problems with carb (Holley) all sorted. It's running a treat, if a little on the loud side, ordered my stainless heat shields while I was out in it. Gave it a good run, then on my return home left it standing on the drive having a cuppa & admiring the noisy beast & to my horror there was a pool of fluid under the front.
Panic set in, is it oil? No it's water, oh must have a dodgy pipe clip, panic starting to subside. Turns out it's the water pump, seal knackered at front pulley. Ho Hum, order placed with Rimmer Bros for a replacement.
All I can do is wait now till it arrives & with a little luck back on road for next weekend. I hope the weather holds.

Incidently one of the guys where I am getting my heatshields from has a super MG Midget with a RV8 in it & 4 wheel drive as well. Talk about tight fits.

Re: Water pump woes.

Could be worse... still a bummer. I've missed out on the last couple of days too whilst recovering from surgery... might venture out this afternoon, though...

Re: Water pump woes.

I am having water pump problems too. I was planning to crank my engine over for the first time today. When filling and checking the coolant system I have found a hairline crack in the water pump were the 1/2" npt tapping for the heater hose has been bored. It's so small you can't see it only the water weeping through it slowly. I'm absolutely gutted!!! I've emailed the engine factory to see what they can do for me. But I honestly don't know if it was there prior or after I installed the adaptor for the heater hose. All I know is I didn't tighten it up hard, just as per a noral 1/2" fitting around 40ftlbs.

Anyone know were a good place is to get a replacement water pump?
