How the hell does he do it?

I can see how Andy Burrows at GD makes his chassis - with a bit of work and a welder, I could do the same.

I can see how he makes his bodies - with some training and the right molds, I could do the same.

I can see how he installs his engines - with some help and a hoist, I could do the same.

However, how the bloody hell does he keep that cap on his head whist driving? I nearly lost mine last night and was only going about, um, 70mph (officer). Think I'll have to tie it to the rollbars in future

It's not glued on as we've seen him not wearing it and his head doesn't seem to have a ridge all the way round it to hook the cap underneath...

Re: How the hell does he do it?

Robin - you will find that the art of headwear retention is more advanced in some than in others.

I have been known to employ large rubber bands over the hat and under my chin before now. Looked naff, so I gave that idea up, and now any passenger of mine knows when the speed might creep up to "70" when my hat gets removed and pushed down behind the seat.

Re: How the hell does he do it?

I was annoyed as it was an empty piece of dual carriageway and I wanted to really open her up... possibly getting to 75mph or thereabouts, officer, but I had to let up to stop my hat blowing off. My passenger on the other hand was more concerned about the face of my speedo which decided to fall off at the same time

Re: How the hell does he do it?

If your GD starts to fall apart at 75, then it might be a good thing your hat stopped you going any faster :rotfl:

Re: How the hell does he do it?

SP and i use a leash. Doesn't stop it coming off your head, but does stop you losing it.

Attached one end of the cord to the hat and a small but powerfull crocodile clip at the other end and attach to clothing / coller etc.

Works fine.

They sell them at chandlers and boat jumbles (to keep baseball caps on yachtsmen)
