fuel pipes, which way,

hi guys more help needed, sorted out the body, rear arches looking bit better, had to cut of the roll bar mounts,to get the body back, will weld them in again when things look ok, shifting the body back 2inches,means got to alter things abit , but, thats life, anyway to my question, routing the fuel pipes two pipes front to back , whats the best way, thought about outside chassi rail, but when going to the tank at the rear, its hell of a close to the rear wheel, any help advice, would be great, another, question, when body is on and secure, inner rear wheel arches on,what have you done to bridge the gap from inner arch to the bottom sill.when you have the inner sill panel on it ties in with the body, but from the bottom of sill, to rear inner arch there is nothing, so do you make up an other arch, from the rear to the sill ,if you know what i mean, anyway, its my anniversary, today, think its 27 or 28 yrs, not sure scared to ask incase i get a row, going out so better go and get cleaned up, thanks again colin.

Re: fuel pipes, which way,

Bugger, beat me to it.

A long pipe from the gas station to the tank would help no end as well.

Re: fuel pipes, which way,

Pilgrim run the pipes down the outer chassis rail on the passenger side. It's close to the wheel, but if they're clipped at the regulation intervals it's not a problem. The rear arches will protect them from any stones thrown up by the wheels.

Not sure what engine you're fitting, but you only need one line for a carb setup and two for fuel injection (though you might want to fit two anyway for future engine swap options).

Re: fuel pipes, which way,

Hi Griz
Can't find any photos of mine but I ran my fuel pipes more or less as shown by Paolo except mine went between the two "shelves" at the bottom of the chassis. Yes, this does mean that i can't get atthem if a fault occurs (as they are now between the body & chassis) but I did get to clip them at 300mm intervals to please the SVA man.

In point of fact used the rigid plastic pipes from the Cortina donor and haven't had any problems to date.

I also laid in a return pipe as the original carb on my first engine needed one

Hope that helps

Rob

Re: fuel pipes, which way,

Hi Griz
Found a couple of pictures showing my fuel pipes into the boot. you just have to make sure that they're secured so that they can't come into contact with the moving parts of the suspension.

On the Mk II I can't see any other option for this route except possiblt taking the pipes inside the car and through the rear bulkhead into the boot. There are obvious risks however to routing fuel inside the car!
