Help with RV8 problems

Hi Guys

Had a bad day in the garage today and wonder if anyone can help. Two main problems. Firstly I have fitted an offenhauser manifold with an Edelbrock(weber 500) carb I have also got a set of Cobra rocker covers with conversion plates so that they fit the rover heads. Big problem the throttle / choke linkages foul the covers has anyone fitted this combination???

Second problem is the clutch. I have a Gerling 75a and ordered a remote reseviour kit from Europa. This came with two threaded nipples but the centre hole on the cylinder is too small for the connector. Are the clutch cylinders different that Europa supply?? Also I was goung to run the supply to the slave on the bell housing in copper but it looks like the setup from Europa is to run in rubber tube which then means I need to find a sutable connector (Does anyone know where I can get one) for the slave I think is Leyland as the current connector I have is a brake fitting type for copper

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Paul

Paul

When using the Cobra rocker covers you need a spacer to prevent the fouling. Jim at JRV8 supplies them.

Re: Help with RV8 problems

Not sure where you live but give race parts in Wallingford, near Reading a call or look on the web site, they have nearly every bit you could possibly want. The web site doesnt list it all.

It is one of the few remaining places where you get personal service, and where you can say I've got one of these and need to fit it to one of these and they will go and rummage for you.

Sorry can remember their tele number

Re: Help with RV8 problems

Bearing in mind that 99% of people never connect up the choke and in fact remove it and all unnecessary parts would this option help you out

Re: Help with RV8 problems

Hi Martin

I though you would need a choke to get the engine to run when it is cold.

Re: Help with RV8 problems

I had a RV8 3.9 and in 3 years of driving summer AND winter I never used the choke in fact as I say I removed all traces of it except where it would affect the throttle linkages, you will find most people don't ever connect up the choke and a lot of them like me remove what they can of it. It always started first time and appart from being a bit temperamental to drive for the first minute or so never gave a problem due to removing the choke.:thumb:
