Driving down to Le Mans

What's the general protocol for the drive down - do people generally stay in convoy all the way or do people drift off in dribs and drabs, stopping for lunch somewhere? Need to get to a hypermarché for rillettes, baguettes et bier - do folks normally wait until getting to Le Mans or do we drop into the Dieppe Auchan before continuing?

Re: Driving down to Le Mans

If we were all to go down in a convoy then I think we will be inviting trouble from the cops down, I think we will probably all break up into smaller groups and then make our own ways down some going different routs and their own thing for breakfast.

You don't need to buy anything en-route, there is a massive Carrefour hypermarket in Le-Mans. :thumb:

Marvellous - although not sure how happy I am parking the Cob in the carpark there...

Speaking of hypermarkets, Tesco had camping stoves on clearance yesterday, along with gas. I bought one (under a tenner, with bottles at just over 2 pounds each) and it seems pretty good - might find it cheaper in France, but who knows?

The plan is to split into groups of 5-6, Not only would a large convoy invite trouble, but it would be impossible to keep it all together :thumb:

Robin,

Parking at the hypermarket is fine we (Plod and Crendon Man) used it every day, the guard with the dog looked after them :thumb:

Re: Driving down to Le Mans

Dont worry too much about the beer run to Carrefore as there is a pickup truck and a few tin tops going as well, Problem solved.
As for the convoy we do aim to split up into smaller groups so as to avoid unwanted attention etc, and some of us have purchased walkie talkies from Argos on offer at the moment for £10.00, so we will all be on the same channel etc.

Re: Driving down to Le Mans
