Speed camera detector: Origin B2 - owner question re dashboa

Has anyone come across a better way to attach the b2 base plate to the dash than by sticking it?

I'm considering buying one of these and dont like the way its attached, i would prefer something like the way a PDA or Sat nav is attached, as in the example...

i'm gonna use it on several cars and dont want base plates or bits or "sticky-back-plastic" uglying things up!

Many thanks

Chris

Re: Speed camera detector: Origin B2 - owner question re das

I take it you do not own one yet.
Each car requires it's own fitting kit which cost £100, I think, can't remember.
The plug would have to be cut from the mount etc so I cannot see how it would ever be worth binning the standard mount. The mount connects the ariel, power and laser detector to the unit.
I fit mine to the RHS of the steering wheel and think it is an excellent unit. If you want a low sight impact look at a bike unit.

Re: Speed camera detector: Origin B2 - owner question re das

My OriginB2 has a completely different mount to that - more like a cradle for a mobile phone... stuck to the top combing at the moment but may mount it lower down for going to France in case Les Gendarmes disapprove...

Robin, if you're caught with one then you may have your car impounded and a possible huge fine, is it worth taking? You know there will be a lot of people on this site who will tell you "i told you so"

Robin.
Are you really stupid enough to use a B2 in France A. If they see it they will conviscate it!! B. If they catch you actually using it they will conviscate the CAR :boohoo: Sorry if this comes over a bit harsh but we are all warned not to. I for one am old and ugly enough to remember how to use maps and Autoroute, and I would hate you to ruin what promises to be a BLINDING 5 days

Re: Speed camera detector: Origin B2 - owner question re das

I thought it was only radar detectors that were illegal - the B2 is a GPS based device - don't know whether the database covers France... the advantage of the device is it comes straight off the cradle but you might be right not to take it.

Bit harsh, mind, Chris...

Looking at:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/module...rance&start=45

it appears that pure GPS based systems, such as Tom Tom with a camera database installed, are legal. Seeing as I don't have a radar detector or laser detector plugged in to my Origin, by the letter of the law, it should be legal, although whether "Les Cochons" (Est-ce que je peux sentir le lard?) see it that way is anyone's guess. I will probably take it with me but whether or not I use it remains to be seen...
