Hmmmm... very similar indeed

Just watching Fifth Gear... noticed the presenters:

An older, slightly grumpy chap whose name is familiar
One with long hair and a regional accent
The slightly younger, shorter one

No similarities to Top Gear, then... I guess that makes Vicki Butler-Henderson the dog

Re: Hmmmm... very similar indeed

Thought the "look how tough a old Mercedes is" bore an uncanny resemblance to the Top Gear Toyota Hilux shenanigans !

Definately second rate

Re: Hmmmm... very similar indeed

Hmmmm at least with 5th Gear you dont have to put up with the 'world according to Jeremy "I'm-right-about-everything-and-bikers-should-be-beheaded" Clarkson'.

Wish the Beeb would get rid of him and go back to the way Top Gear used to be in the early 90's - about the cars not the egos!

Imagine if you will, if he left. They could feature kit cars (They cant just now as Clarksons not a fan), they could feature motorbikes which he hates (After all it is a MOTORING programmes so why no two wheeled action? - after all we bikers pay our licece fee but we have no coverage on the beeb...).

5th gear can sometimes be a bit dodgy but at least its not a one ego show...

CeeJay.

Re: Hmmmm... very similar indeed

I know what you mean about Top Gear, but they've managed to bridge the gap between nerdy car programme, and brought it into main stream entertainment, both my wife and daughter who dont watch car programmess laugh out loud at Top Gear sometimes. I must say I usually feel a little well embarrassed for the presenters watching fifth gear..

Personally, even though Im a life long bike rider/builder/enthusiast, and JC's anti bike, I still think he's entertaining, his european tour series (forgot the name) and the trinny and Susannah make over he had, show hes not afraid of taking the p155 out of everything, including himself.
Its nice to have a mainstream TV bo whose not pc obsessed.

In a way, I'm glad kit cars and modern bikes dont make it onto mainstream telly; it would just give more fuel for the 'ban it' merchants if they knew how cheap real performance is.

VBH strikes me as the sort of girl who neither spits nor swallows, but gargles.
