Anyone Reccommend a good hood supplier?

Hi Gang,

Having the beast on the road as it is, at the moment with no hood.
I can only do short bursts, just in case it rains and because it's b**tard freezing. ;(

Can anyone reccommend a good supplier for a hood and Tonneau?

I know Europa can supply but but don't know what they are like for quality.
That said its a chunk cheaper than Dax's hood. :7

Kev,

go direct to the supplier of Daxes hood and toneau. Think the bits are cheaper without Daxes mark-up!

The Trim Shop,(just off M42- J2 south Birm)

RE: Anyone Reccommend a good hood supplier?

Hi Kev,

I had my hood made by the trim shop through Roger Klimcke, my old hood was used as a template I think. It is ok but needed a few tweeks, and the stitch work and finishing was not what I would call quality. I have had to do a few repairs on mine. Make sure your windows are completely sewn in, one of mine missed the sewing machine a bit. My support hoop went rusty when it got damp, as it may do if it is in your boot or gets wet at any time, try to get a stainless one or something to avoid this. Get them to supply a length of sticky rubber to go inside the 'u' peice which attaches to your windscreen, this can be added by you to cushion and provide a better seal. I reckon if you take your car to them and stipulate exactly what you want, take alot of time and get it done right. My sidescreens don't quite fit right either, they don't sit high enough to bond with the velcro face. Also, bear in mind that the hood puts lots of stress on the body, especially the side screens where the ferrules are placed into the doors. Also the poppers on the body need to be tight and checked regularly. The valley area between the rear arches as you know drains water into the cockpit, I reckon some extra tubing on the roof and a popper fitted in the bottom of the depression should solve this, as the roof needs to be taught it kind of pulls the roof up at this point and can leave a gap. I don't know if you know all this already but maybe some of it will be a help. I can't wait to get my next Cobra to put into use all the things I've learned!! Need to sell this one soon.

So, I reckon the trim shop is ok, but you need to be very picky and don't let anything slip with them.

If you want to discuss a bit more then email me or call zebtaylor@hotmail.com or +34 (not too expensive) 965796808 (spain).

Cheers

RE: Anyone Reccommend a good hood supplier?

I've spoken with Europa and they asked asked if I wanted a hood with zipped in side screens which apparently don't need side screen frames.

I just wondered if anyone had them and what they were like compared the original type with the metal frame and glass/perspex.
