Re: insurance

Hi,

I've just renewed with Backford Bloor, also took the opportunity to include breakdown cover. They charge £60 for annual UK & EU brakdown, including Home-start. Very reasonable I thought.

Re: insurance

I would avoid AF like the plague; they are quite the worst company I have ever dealt with. They may be cheap and that's fine if you don't actually need them to do anything but take your cheque but dealing with them was a frustrating nightmare in my case: trying to sort out a simple administrative matter.

Re: insurance

Well to wrap it all up

rang round and got a 3000 mile quote from Backford Bloor for £290 rang AFlux and they gave me the same for £287 which is a saving of £23 and a extra 1500 mile

Worth the 1 hours calls

Re: insurance

We went with AF when we had our robin hood, after selling to up grade to the cobra, cancelled the insurance, they sent us a cheque back with a refund from our policy, it only took them 19 months. The letter with the cheque stated refund for recent cancellation of policy. If it takes them this long to refund, how long would it take them to sort out a claim.

Need a little help with the maths there Clive?

As others have said, AF can be, umm "variable" in terms of their service, I hope you get them on a good day. Also, please check that you have "agreed value" insurance - if so, you must be asked to fill in a valuation sheet to establish the value. If they don't ask for that, it is not agreed value, whatever bs they give you on the 'phone.

Re: insurance

You must treat all insurance companies with caution.

I have been insuring my car for 18 years and 17 of those have been with Flux. One year (over 10 years ago ) they upset me and I moved. I find them ok, I find them reasonably efficient and when last year I broke a windscreen in Le Mans they dealt with it very promptly.
I do have full agreed value cover (although my car is not particularly high value).
I deal with them a lot by e mail and they always reply promptly.
I guess I am lucky.
When I tried to get a quote off Backford Bloor a few years ago, the service they gave me was dreadful.

cheers

Re: insurance

Switched from Backfords to AF this year.
AF use Chaucer who up until last year were with Backfords.
Always found AF very helpful and efficient.
Like all things I guess it depends whether you speak to the monkey or the organ grinder...

Re: insurance

I've also changed from Backford Bloor to Flux's this year as BB wanted £560 (up £100 on last year),and Flux's quoted me £315.I questioned BB and said surely they'd made a mistake, but they wouldn't budge on the price so I changed.I wrote a Robin Hood off a few years back which was insured with Flux's,they were excellent handling my claim which was paid very quickly. So I can only recommend Flux's.
