IT LIVES

Got up early today.Did final bits.Refitted exhaust(well not everyone wants waking up saturday)Filled engine with water.
Switched on ignition and fuel pump.Hit the starter button.
The Beautiful thing started first time
I couldnt believe it.Minor adjustment to carb and ticking over luvly, altho at 1500 for cam burn. Then noticed leak from waterpump.
Quick phone call to Webbs Spare parts (local car spares)and £44 later leak gone,Timing adjusted and what a sweet sound.Fans cut in at 85 on the gauge and even in the garage temp stayed below 100. :9
Cant wait to bleed clutch and brakes and try it out for real. {-}

RE: IT LIVES

Congrats Steve

Have you just completed your build. The best bits, the first drive out. Its unbelievably nerve racking, listening for this and that, waiting for the steam to start and getting ready to catch the big end as it whistles by.

Come to think of it, the intrepidation never really goes away, even ater 8 years

Hope it all goes well for you on your first run and dont forget to vary the revs, dont just keep at 1500 rpm and dont labour it pester pester natter natter.

All the best.
Mike

RE: IT LIVES

Congratulations Steve!
Nice shiny job and all the things works that should give you a satisfaction?
I am trying to get some one to do your type of switch name plates and it takes month’s and nothing happens and in the mean time you manage to rebuild the complete engine bay with all the stainless steel bits.
Great job Steve.

Thing is unless you got a bottomless wallet you have to "do it yourself". Work out what you can do pay for the rest, and dont be afraid to ask for favours.

RE: IT LIVES

I Steve,
Finally I think I have managed to get the “switch name plates”.
The neighbor’s son is student for jewelry. Hi has offered him self to make the plates.
I have given a stainless sheet of 0.6 mm and the drawing it is a copy of your design.
Thanks for posting your picture of the dash board.
The hole of 12 mm was the difficult part I have tried different solutions but every time bends the plate.
See the drawing and use if some one ask for dimensions.
Thanks
Regards,
Cobra289
