Lt77

Hi
I have a rover 4 Speed gearbox in my car at this time and it is getting time to replace it.
I must say for what i need it has been verygood but on overrun it is kicking out of 2nd.
My qusetion is do i have it rebuilt or do i replace it and with what?
The roads around North Lincs are flat and I find that only forth would be used most of the time. I don't do track days, only use motorways when going to shows so are the alterations needed to replace it needed, speedo, gear change, prop shaft etc.
I hope you all could advise me with this difficult question

Re: Lt77

If you do go for another LT77 I've noticed that one from an SD1 has a lower top gear than one from a vitesse.
(Mine's from a vitesse and the motor won't really pull 5th gear, it just sits at about 115 without accelerating
It's still ok for cruising about and I suppose it depends on how much power/torque your motor is making.

Whatever you do I'd recommend Redline MTL gearbox oil, it totally sorted out a syncro grinding problem that I was suffering recently.

Re: Lt77

Before you go off and rebuild the 'box, just check that you don't have an overtight rubber boot - they have been known to pull levers out of gear.........
