| RE: experience of selling a cob Last year I was looking for a 2nd hand Cobra replica. Although I eventually bought a new one from Dave Brookes Hallmark cars Kit car magazines Internet - www.findit.co.uk, this forum, searching through google.co.uk Hallmark purchase 2nd hand cars, although I guess they will pay you less than what you would get if you can hold out for a private buyer, but at least you could sell it more quickly. Kit car magazines - my experience was that by the time I phoned the seller, if it was a good car it had already been sold. Alternatively if they were overpriced or not well built then they seemed to show up month after month. On the internet I found a few dealerships selling cars, but again seemed to be high priced. Findit had lots of private Cobra's - and as per the magazines if they were good and priced competitively they sold well. Not many cars were for sale on the this Cobra forum at the time - and I think if you are trying to sell to the gneral public, they may not be aware of this site. I would suggest put it for private sale in as many places as possible, and price it competitively otherwise it will just sit there. If all else fails and you need a quick sale, you could then try Hallmark cars, but obviously they are in the game to make a profit. Hope this is of some help. Cheers, Tim.

| RE: experience of selling a cob I'l agree with Tim that Findit is a good place. Don't dismiss Autotrader and E&M. You have to pay for both but sometimes they can be best. Also try LOOT.COM, it's free and is looked at by a lot of people. If you plug away long enough on the 'net, you'll find loads of free advertising. Most of it's c**p but it's free and you only need 1 person to buy. Cobrabloke. |

| RE: experience of selling a cob The Dax website has a for sale board on it and normally has between 6-10 cars on it. There was a SBC car on it the other day for about 22k if I remember rightly. Might be a good place seeing as you have a Dax.

| RE: experience of selling a cob Funny you should say that. Yesterday a customer of mine called me up with a car that i built for him 6 months ago saying that he needed to sell the car as he was emigrating to New Zealand. This call came in around 30mins after i called a trade customer of mine to tell them that their next car from me would be about a month late, anyhow after a couple more calls either way the car is now due to go to the dealer on a "Sale or return" basis. Summary. Sold (Well, sort of) in under 1 hour. Lardy if you would like prices you'd better e-mail me off the forum or i'll get into trouble with Rob.}( I can build GD's as well as Daxes if you like. info@v8cobra.co.uk

| RE: experience of selling a cob Last year I (eventually) sold a Chevy engined Ram in order to make space in my garage and bank balance. Started by posting on the CRC Cobras For Sales site but despite over 150 viewings over a 6 month period did not get a single response. Hallmark were very helpfull and placed it on their web for a few months but despite some interest no buyers emerged. They advised on what price to advertise at and would have bought it themselves but not at a price that I liked. I do not have a problem with this as they have to cover the cost of display, interest etc. for what can be (as I found out) quite a long time. As they are a business they also need to make money! I then advertised it in Classic and Sportscar for 2 months. Only had a response from 1 serious buyer - but as they say, one is enough. He turned out to be a great guy and bought it on the spot. I was pleased to see it go to a good home at a price that was OK. Overall the process took nearly a whole year so you may have to be patient. Lest you think I deserted the Cobra fold the garage space was filled by the car you see below - so while I miss the Ram I am still a happy Cobra fanatic. |

| RE: experience of selling a cob Contrary Mary Lardy, have no experience at selling a Cob, but have been doing some investigation with a colleague who wants to buy a Dax. The current market in this chilly weather for a post 90 Dax in this climate, as you describe would seem to be around the 15K to 18K mark Eric. |

| RE: experience of selling a cob Hi, Just out of interest I always keep an eye on Ebay, a few of them seem to get shifted, this link should work for one that made the reserve recently: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...107234786&rd=1 Cheers Alastair |

| RE: experience of selling a cob Hope not, paid more than that origionally + the 7k. didn't go into alot of detail on the description but I've never seen something comparable for that sort of money. I'm in sales so I know the cars only worth what someone is willing to pay.I also know that not all of what I have spent will increase the value, but that wasn't the point of doing it. If I do decide to let it go I'll probably try to sell it at one of the shows, at least you'd get instant feedback Having said all this I got her out of the cocoon this morning and gave her a blast round the lanes, bright sunshine but 'frightfully chilly!!'perhaps the grass isn't greener, she'e the F$%%^%g Bo&*^ks {-} Cheers Lardy |
