It is true some builders do get new registrations for their builds, and the law allows for some reused parts to be used, but advertising a car as being produced from all new parts when in fact its not is another matter entirely.

If indeed you have sold the three cars in your offer as you claim, then all of those cars have been sold on a fraudulent basis and if any of your customers had the intent, they could sue you through the courts, probably taking your business with them along the way.

If you want to be taken seriously in this industry you have to be whiter than white!
I have heard that you make good quality cars, but you are doing yourself no favours with your continued naive approach to advertising and trading standards.
Bit harsh Rich for a guy who is trying to make an honest living, where the hell can you get new parts for the XJ series, my car is registered as new in 2002 (02 plate) even though it has a private plate and it was built from all re-conditioned Jag bits, as are all the Jag based cars supplied by whoever.

Give him a break, just a slip of the tongue which I'm sure he will rectify very soon.

Yes, I will verify that his cars are finished to a very high standard.

Re: 8 hours to build a Cobra?

Mike i know you are good friends so i understand your comments, but
you have to think of how other people will react,

If you went to the Honda showroom and bought your shiny new Accord only to find out later that the running gear had been reused from a 1987 car, how would you feel.

people that have cars built for them are generally not so well up on the 'ins and outs' of kit production as you and I are and may not realise that some of what there buying is second hand.

i'm sure you would hate to see Anthony in court for such a slip up.

You know as well as i do that there are plenty of people, some with vested interests that know a hell of a lot about kits, that are only to willing to undermine your hard work.

Re: 8 hours to build a Cobra?

Rich,

How many Cobras have you seen advertised 'built from all new parts'?
People do it all the time. I will advertise my car the same way when I sell it too.
Antony is an honest guy, trying to get started in business at a relatively young age. Your comments are harsh and critical of a bloke who, I suspect you don't know nor have met.
You are right, and Antony should be careful with his advertising, however I don't think you'll find any of his customers in the belief that every part is brand new.

I'm quite sure Antony can take constructive critism etc. but I think you are perhaps 'stirring'.
Maybe you have an ulterior motive....................no doubt you'll deny that.

Re: 8 hours to build a Cobra?

Interesting comments Neil,
and to be honest i don't want to keep going on about it, as you say he is trying to get on a build up a business.

As for having an ulterior motive, anyone who knows what i'm about will tell you that i try and help fellow builders save time, money and to get what they want.

and yes we met a Le mans and I enjoyed the now infamous drag race with a certain other car.

Re: 8 hours to build a Cobra?

Without stepping away from the fact that I now have vested business interest with the forum I shall try and keep my reply as polite and as to the point as possible.

I thank neil and mike for saving me some time typing wth there comments and without repeating to much of what they have said I shall reply myself.

Firstly all 6 of my increasing customer base are more than happy with the vehicles that they own and at the time of purchase/ordering were fully aware of the parts that were being fitted and the condition of them. In some cases the letter on the plate didnt even matter to them as like many people my customers are persueing a life long dream of owning a cobra.

Secondly would I be right in saying and if another member would like to help me out here id appreciate it. If any person aware of the cobra scene or not were to order a rolling chassis from Dax or even AK would they not recieve a certificate of newness for SVA purposes. If this is the case and they to source there running gear from Ward engineering would they too be at fault for supplying a car/product that isnt new.

Finally I would like to draw your attention to my cars and prices section of my website where I think you will find tha from day one the specifications section has shown new/reconditioned running gear which IS elegible for an o6 plate. At the time of updating my site for the summer deals section I assumed the meaning of the description would be the same and apolgise for any confusion that all of one person seems to have had with it.

Off to continue building a car and my business now while some of you attempt to knock it down in my absence from the computer.

I will update it again to rectify the site and hope that in an effort of posting this thread I have offended no one else.

Re: 8 hours to build a Cobra?

Good professional reply Anthony,

Glad you didn't take it personally as it wasn't intended that way,

if you re read this thread in a few days, you may see that, far from trying to stir or knock your business, the comments will be helpful to you and your future customers.

Sorry Anthony I've completely forgotten about this incident, would you mind repeating again what happened, i'e' who raced who and who won, and especially which vehicle beat which vehicle? If anyone else wants to remind me which vehicle came last then please do so
