SVA + Car colour

Hi,

We're planning to have our car painted (blue) after the SVA test, at the moment it is in grey gelcoat. I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the car has to be in its final colour for the SVA test or whether you can paint it afterwards as we plan to.

Thanks in advance,

John

No problem, you can paint it after, you don't even need carpets as long as all the sharp bits have the correct radius. :thumb:

Re: SVA + Car colour

Hi John,
You don't need the car painted or trimmed for SVA. It only needs to meet the rules for the test. I didn't have mine painted gfor the test as I changed a few things after and this might have damaged an expensive paint job.
Cheers, Clive

Re: SVA + Car colour

Thanks for the quick replies guys, good news!

We were thinking the same thing Clive. Also I'm sure I read somewhere on here about a guy who had his tested and not only did the tester stand on his new leather seats with muddy shoes, but also rested his metal clipboard on the rear end and scratched his new paint work! I'd rather stay clear of that.

I'm worried about leather the car unpainted as some of the interior chassis seems a bit sharp, maybe we'll get some old carpet and fit that for the test.

John
