SVA solution for braided hose (CARDIFF)

Has anyone experience of how fussy Cardiff is about braided fuel line?

The options seem to get braided hose past SVA include 1) not risking it 2)bringing an invoice which states the BS or other standard 3) bringing a piece of the hose with the braid taken off, if it shows its suitable in that way (markings etc).

Or has anything changed?

At Aberdeen the tester said "Braided fuel lines, that looks good!" If I remember correctly there is nothing in the SVA manual to say it has to be marked as fuel line, it just has to be suitable for the job.

How do they know it's suitable for the job when it's covered in braiding. something very amiss with the whole system of testing.

I agree, although I think there must be a certain amount of common sense and discression used, otherwise you will end up with Mr. Jobsworth examiner wanting to see every invoice/receipt etc.

I also agree, but why not just fit the correctly marked rubber fuel pipe and change after the SVA, problem solved. :thumb:

Why risk a fail for 10 minutes work after it has passed.

I understand what you are saying, but the SVA manual does not say that the fuel line has to be marked or it can't be braided. If the supplier supplies braided line then surely that is what he deems to be adequate for the job. Likewise for brake lines. they do not have to be marked and braided can be used without any problem.

Has anyone had an SVA problem using jubilee type hose clips instead of threaded connectors or the spring type clips that are installed with pliers?
