Gel repair

My baby is still in Gel coat and looks too good to be able to justify the cost of the paint job.
However it does have a couple of scratches that I'm looking to repair.
I have some gel coat pigment and want to mix up some to fill the scratches.
I assume I mix resin with a little pigment to colour and add hardener at the normal ratio. But does the pigment change the ratio???
I know I should mix up a trial sample but I bet someone already knows this.....

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Gel repair

Hi Martin,

Picked up some coloured gelcoat from Pilgrim only recently, the advised mix rate was 1%-2% hardener to gel. This was for coloured gelcoat however, have you not got this? We have the same colour but I do not think I could get some to you through the post.

Re: Gel repair

Great thanks Noel
I do have the coloured gel coat so I'll use that ratio.

If I don't have the spray job done next year I may well have the geometry professionally set up!

Re: Gel repair

2% is good, more than this and the gel stays tacky and takes ages to harden:thumb:
