Ram expansion tank

Does anyone know of a flattish or long thin expansion tank, preferably off the peg that will fit under a Ram bonnet.
The usual place (I think) is above a sub frame bar and there isn't much height. Here are two options:

Or perhaps a good web site??

Re: Ram expansion tank

Hi again,

I believe shiny bitz do a stainless expansion tank for about £120 and it mounts on the front tubular amounting bar, just in front of the engine. This is a direct replacement for the RAM original part. What about contacting REALM engineering or Cheng Lim? Both should be able to supply the original tank.

Regards

Ian

Re: Ram expansion tank

Cheers, I have tried calling Realm all day with no luck, no one seems in or its engaged.
Hadn't thought of Cheng, its just those shiny ones look nicer than the painted stock option.

Re: Ram expansion tank

I offered my orignal RAM built brass one on here and ebay no takers so I binned it last week.
Realm still do them but theyre a bit pricey.
The stainless one I bought from Shinybits was £120 and really good quality.
See pic.
I do live very close to the farm building where roger works from, so it was easy for me to pop in at the agreed time to collect it.

Re: Ram expansion tank

I thought someone had bought it. Anyway, that pic looks lovely and £120 seems good value. I'll try and call him in morning.
Do you have any photos of your engine bay? I still need to get my head around the connections for the tank, is it one to the bleed pipe at top or radiator and one to a t-piece in the pipe from manifold to top RHS of heater?

Re: Ram expansion tank

I Did away with my leaky old Ram one. Then, Searched the US ebay for a 'ford expansion tank'. I ended up with an original Cobra style one, off a Ford Mercury. It had been refurb'd and painted. It fits just in front of the top bar behind the rad'. Oh, and it only cost me 12 quid! I spent a few weeks looking, every now and then and in that time saw several for around 30-70 dollars.
