SVA - Max power Engine speed

I know this has been asked before (I've read through all the other threads but I'm still confused!)

I'm filling in the SVA form and I'm unsure of what to put for Max power engine speed.

I have a 383 stroker, it has been dynoed by the factory and produces maximum Torque at 3300rpm and max HP at 5800rpm. Can I get away with putting down 3300 as the max power engine speed?

Which is the maximum power figure - HP or Torque?

thanks

Re: SVA - Max power Engine speed

You'll get laughed out at 3300, you should probably use the 5800 figure if your being totally honest, but you wouldn't be wrong to use a "stock" chevy figure of around 5K - it's only used to work out the speed of the engine for the silencing test.....but that does make it important to keep it as low as possible for us noisy ones!

Re: SVA - Max power Engine speed

I put down 3750 rpm and the guy didn't bat an eyelid.

When he was doing the test I had to hold the revs at 75% of this myself so while he was messing around with the equip. I dropped it down it down a bit more.

Passed easy, 97dB both sides!!

Re: SVA - Max power Engine speed

4,000 seems to be the norm and it is easy for the examiner to work out 75% of it!
