Tremec TKO600/Getrag

I currently have a Getrag box, but am thinking of replacing it with a Tremec TKO 600. It is sitting behind a Chevy 400ci small block.
Are they interchangeable or is there lots of work involved like changing flywheels, bell housings and clutches, etc.
Ideally I'd like to unbolt one box and replace it with the other, but appreciate it may not be as simple as that?
Lastly, would the gearstick be in the same place?

Thanks.....

TKO should bolt straight on to your chevy housing.
I think the clutch plate will have different splines though.
I don't believe that the slip yoke from the getrag will fit the TKO though. They are very similar but the last one I tried was far too tight for comfort so i sourced a new part.
AK are very helpful with regard getrags and different setups.

BEB,

Is your Getrag knackered then or are you pre-empting disaster due to the montrous amounts of torque you're putting out?

Re: Tremec TKO600/Getrag

At the moment it is fine, except that since l had it overhauled last December (by a reputable company who usually come recommended on this site) it hasn't stopped leaking oil - not much; about 1/4 litre every 1000 miles - they have tried resealing it once. but it still leaks !!!
They say they're happy to have it back and have another go but I'm not so sure they will cure it.

That, + the "healthy" torque with the Nitrous, has got me thinking about fitting a TKO600 but I want to retain as many parts as possible as they are all fine - clutch, flywheel, propshaft, etc. I was hoping for a simple swap. l'll have a word with Ken and the Boys and see what they say.
