RE: Original colours????

Thank you for your link. I am still a long way away from painting as yet but I like to do the research as and when I can to ensure that when its done its not a compromise and not just a passing whim. I will endeavour to look and probably ask stupid questions that hundreds of people have asked before.
Thanks again

RE: Original colours????

At SAAC 27 this last summer, several of we Gasholes met a ancient gentleman named Tweety, the chief Shelby painter. We asked him about the mix for the blue base for the popular blue with white stripe combo.

Tweety explained that he would simply mix a fresh batch for each car--"a little of this...and a little of that...". He said each car was different. One might assume he did the same for the reds and other colors.

RE: Original colours????

I think Jamo's conclusion is correct. I have a copy of Dave Friedman's book of original archive photos from 1962-65. He was the official Shelby photographer at the time. It shows a wide range of blues from light to dark. The great thing is you can have any blue that suits your taste and say it is an original colour. My own preference is for the darker shades.

Contrary Mary

Try this blue: Crysler Blue, same colour they do the Dodge V10 Viper in which also has the white stripes if required. Eric

RE: Original colours????

Thank you for your help, its first time I have just posted on the forum and I am positively encouraged by the response. Thanks again.
Being impatient I have to build my garage before I can get mine home to start building, talk about torture!
I have seen a lovely sunburnt orangish colour on a Cobra in Kit car magazine so again its another option. It will probably end up purple knowing me!
Both myself and the girlie will be coming up to York so if you see a Moby look alike heading your way hide the keys!!!
Thanks
Markieboy
