Cobra virgin and mechanical idiot - help needed!

Right, i have finally bitten the bullet and after dreaming of owning a Cobra for many years i have agreed to buy a beautiful blue dax with a 5.7 ford mid block racing engine in superb condition. 2 problems:
1. what i know about engines and mechanics you could write on a key fob!
2. the car has what i call "soft number plates" eg. black and white plates stuck onto the bodywork.
Does anyone know or can recommend either tuners/service/repair places near cambs or anyone who can make up these plates and the best way to remove or cover the old ones??
I know some of you will obviously view me as a cretin but guys (and gals):drive: , you dont need to build them to love them and drive them!!
Cheers,
Neil

Best get someone to look the car over. At least post pics and as much info as possible on this site. Someone will know the car.

As for the number plates, if they are stick on black rectangles with stick on white letters/numbers then a heat gun will remove them. Heat the number plate area gently and peel off. Will need to get quite hot.

Best of luck.:thumb:

Re: Cobra virgin and mechanical idiot - help needed!

Neil,

This is my old car. It was built by me in '97. I sold it to Sovereign in '04, the current owner bought it from them.

It's not a racing engine but a pretty much standard Ford 351C (which was built by me). Don't know what the power output really is but it was a really quick car. Gearbox is a Tremec 3550.

I see from the pics the current owner has changed the interior to cream, it was originally black. Let me know if you do buy it as it's nice to know where it is !

Cheers

Alex

Alex, really good to be able to trace the history. Pending an inspection this week the car is mine and i will keep you upto date. Can you shed any more light on its donor bits, spec etc. i have been told you used to work for ac (passed on by sovereign to the current owner) is this true? Be grateful for any info. Thanks, neil

Re: Cobra virgin and mechanical idiot - help needed!

Neil,

Nope I'm afraid I've never worked for AC ! I think the Guy who Sovereign got to re trim the interior in Cream used to work for AC so maybe thats where that came from.

Never really understood the Cream interior thing but each to their own.

My email is hood.alex@tiscali.co.uk, send me a mail and I'll send you any info you need.

Alex
