What Gearbox??

My Sumo is based on Ford and TVR. The engine and gearbox were a straight lift from a 1992 Grffith 400. I am told the speedo transducer was rear axle mounted on that model. My speedo has packed in and I have discovered the transducer is on the rear of the gearbox. I need to identify what gearbox was used in a 92 Griffith (Rover?) so that I can buy the correct replacement transducer. Any TVR Boffins out there?? Cheers. Steve.

Re: What Gearbox??

If i remember correctly (been saying that a lot recently) then remove the transducer from the gearbox (one 10mm bolt) and the colour of the cog refers to which transducer you need, hth

Re: What Gearbox??

If I remember correctly also, that will be a US spec T5 gearbox.

Just go to your local TVR dealer, or you could try a Ford dealer as the T5 was also fitted in Cosworths although at a slightly lesser torque rating.

Re: What Gearbox??

Thanks for your advice guys. What has confused me is that I spoke to my local TVR dealer who told me the speedo sensor for a 92 Griffith is located on the axle and not the gearbox, so I will take your advice to remove the transducer and take it to the dealer. Cheers, Steve.
