RE: side pipe repacking

Hi there when you say they need more packing is it because they are too noisey? because if you put too much packing in they will in fact get louder as there is a fine line between the right amount and over packing i.e. the more dense the packing the less sound deadening.
But if you do require packing you could try Dax and convert over to something like the fibre packing they use
cheers
Paul

RE: side pipe repacking

The pipes are a couple of years old and the noise levels have just started to creep up.
Taking the end caps off the packing looks like it will compact some - so I dont know? a shopping bag full should sufice.

Your local motorbike parts shop will sell you a shopping bag full of glass wool exhaust packing, about a tenner at the most, should do the job just fine. You may be able to pick it up cheaper else where if you fancy looking around.

Eric, The exhaust guys had a look and prenounced that
all was well on the packing front - they thought that
my perforations might be coming blocked - so got them
steam cleaned at work.

Will they be quieter ????

Regards Clive

RE: side pipe repacking

Hi Clive, if your perforations were blocked then the exhaust gases would be unable to expand into the main tube into the packing, effectively turning your side pies into straight through pipes the diameter of the perforated tubes.
So in theory if you have cleared the holes then you should be quieter.
