Windscreen to body mounting help.

I trial fitted the windscreen mounting legs with my body in place only to find that the distance from the body to the first screw hole for the windscreen differred by about 10mm side to side. I have looked at lifting the body on one side but I dont think that is the problem. Is this an inaccuracy on the bodies as the originals were hand crafted?
I dont really know if it will be noticed when the windscreen is fitted as the rubber at the bottom will hide any inaccurate curvature of the body.
I will try with the windscreen fitted but did any other builders have problems?
John.

Re: Windscreen to body mounting help.

Hi John.
I have never fitted screen pillars without the screen attached to them. Put it all together, then fit it through the body and even up the screen to body then drill and bolt.
I can't understand why you are doing any of this while the screen is unassembled????

Don't worry it'll all look fine when completed.

Re: Windscreen to body mounting help.

Hi Dave,
Did have the full windscreen on before when trying to ensure body was square to chassis etc. Then when looking across the car I couldn't make up my mind that the screen sat as "square" as I would like. So I was unhappy.
The problem is compounded by the fact that I am using an old (bumped ie drivers front wheel arch removed) dax bodyand fitting to an SR chassis.
What gets me is the chassis and body are levelled using spirit levels. When ensuring the supports are fitted almost exactly the same both sides on the chassis this difference then exists when you put the body on and remount the supports.
