where to get vacuum hoses?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me of a decent supplier of vacuum hoses? We need a couple for our Rover V8. Any recommendation would be a great help.

We've been using fuel pipe so far with no problems but I don't want to fail the SVA because they aren't marked or are not the right pipe.

Thanks,

John

DO NOT USE PETROL HOSE it is not designed for this purpose the same goes fo Silicone vacuum hose.

Here you go http://www.thinkauto.com/acatalog/Pr..._hose_113.html

They are in Middlesex and you will get the address and te No if you uese the first part of the address and go to 'how to find us.

Dont forget to introduce a high point in the run to stop petrol condensation running to the servo and put an inline directional valve in the right direction.

sounds rather complicated, thanks for the info! Do they sell the valve on their site? I've had a look but can't see it.

Not really complicated - probably my explanation. Basically take your vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold or carburettor (full vacuum port only) outlet, depending which one you use and instead of routing straight to the servo route the hose so that it rises to the highest point alog the scuttle before letting it drop to connect to the servo.

Easiest place I know to get the valve is from Dax, its a neat little metal unit that incorporates an arrow on the body to indicate the correct fitting orientation. They are not cheap, but thats not Dax as they are not cheap anyway.

Make sure you get a hose marked as vacuum hose or keep the receipt for the SVA. I managed to get the marked stuff, but its not always easily available.

All the best
Mike

You can get a one way valve from the scrappy, paid 50p for mine from a 200 series Rover, most cars should have one in-line somewhere under the bonnet.

Just make sure you fit it the right way round as some of us have been known to make that mistake .

I used Samco servo hose without markings and had no problems with sva. probably depends where you go , I gave the centre a ring to check in advance it would be ok.:thumb:

Re: where to get vacuum hoses?

Luckily our system already has the one way valve. I've ordered the hose, it should be here to be fitted tomorrow. Thanks for all of the help.
