| Re: Muncie gearbox John I've heard they are a very good gearbox, infact someone said to me they are bullet proof. I was offered a 4 speed muncie gearbox but had to think about motorway driving e.g. 70 miles an hour or and the engine revving like mad due to only 4 speed. I suppose each to their own, what diff are you running?HTH........ I'll get me coat ![]()

| Re: Muncie gearbox In my opinion its a sound box - 2nd gear is awesome. As to only 4 speed - depends on the diff ratio and tyre sizes - worth playing with one of the clauclators available elsewhere here. I have a 2.88 - its vvveeerrryyy long and ticks over on the motorway. It does stop me spinning the wheels in 1st though - which is probably a good thing. If I was honest I would probably change up a ratio because the amount of top end is ridiculous and mainly unusable in this country! |

| Re: Muncie gearbox Have got one on my cob - along with chevy 350 and jag diff and they are quite short geared but awesome for acceleration, but like the other chap said high revs for motorways stints. It will get you up to 130mph before you know it and how often can you do more than that? Better to blow everybody off from a standing start methinks! A five speed version would be my perfect combo it has to be said. Apparently bullet proof, but did manage to mash my thrust bearings at Snetterton, so a rebuild by Cheng required. Some bits had to come from states. Dirk. |
