Re: AC owners bitchin

JEEEEZ..... Would rather have a kit and forego the snobby politics - really not worth it. These guys should try driving their cars and enjoying them..... Probably burnt a ton of bridges here but seriously get a life.....

Re: AC owners bitchin

Certainly makes interesting reading.

It's a real shame that the AC name has fallen to the hands of somebody who saw it as purely a money making oportunity, rather than an enthusiast.

Having said that the comments of one particular enthusiast who owns a carbon bodied version quotes:-

"ignorant people, blind to the advantages of superior material technology, who would consider the CRS cars to be little more than kit cars. But such cretins are beneath our consideration are they not?"

Clearly he's missing the point of owning a real AC complete with its 'period' technologhy and handling characteristic (did I spell that right?) That's the beauty of owning a real piece of history.

I truly wish I had one. But then again I don't think I'd enjoy the club meetings quite so much

Cheers,

Andy

Re: AC owners bitchin

I did consider getting a "proper" one for a while.

There was a cobra parked in the our car park one day, and at the time I was looking about getting one so paid a lot of interest in types / finishes etc.. Not knowing who it belonged to I left a note on seat saying give me a call as I wouldn't mind talking about it.

One of the guys in the office is a member of one of those car clubs where you pay x amount of cash and get so many days with super cars. He came up to me and said - you wanted to talk about the Cobra. "Ah yes", what kit is it I asked.

"It's a real one." he replied with a big smile on his face.

"You're joking " I laughed.

"No" he replied with a stern look.

We went downstairs to look at the finish quality in more detail. I was not impressed, it was a kit and there was no denying it - it still had the Ford steering indicators (god I hate those things). Carpets weren't neatly finished and it handled like a fish on roller skates.

All in all it was a badly made kit - riding on the AC name. I was not impressed.

Re: AC owners bitchin

I wonder how many people are driving round in Cobs thinking they have a real one - bet there is one somewhere.......

Sounds like one of Dave's monsters would be more than a match for a real on anyway. I bet any member of Joe public would not be able to tell you its a kit....

Give me a kit any day - less worrying about a stone chip or something. Drive em dont worry about em....
