Which Filter King .

I remember reading about Dan's cobra going on fire and the suspected cause was a failed fuel filter in the engine bay, so a couple of questions spring to mind.

I have a high capacity fuel pump on order from pilgrim (whatever that is) and i dont fancy using the cheap plastic inline filters. A quick search and the Filter King Regulator seems to be a popular choice.

There are a few types of Filter King Regulator-. 67mm or 85mm, transparent or metal bowl, with or without gauge. Which one do i want? It is going in a Sumo with a mildly tuned Rover V8.

And, where do i install it. I guess as it is a regulator it will be on the discharge of the pump somewhere. There are two options. Engine bay for easy access or near the pump in the boot away from ignition sources.

Also should i use a suction filter or will this screw up the regulator?

Cheers
Jim

Re: Which Filter King .

Large one, metal bowl.

Install anywhere convenient (remember you might want to drop the bowl off to check teh filter) and away from exhaust heat. I think that, as you are effectively using the filter as the "last check" before the carb, you should put it into the engine bay area.

Also, it is a good idea to use a filter before the pump. Since this is on the suction side, you could use one of the glass body types, so long as you can insulate it from mechanical shock. This lets you clean it out in the event of a blockage (so long as it is fitted where you can get to it!). Otherwise you can use one of the cheapo plastic bodied filters.
