| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? Mark why dont you get Russell Derbyshire aka russell ram, to build you what you want, with your spare diff, he's very very good and you wont get ripped off either, contact him through this site. As for swapping the diff I had to do this last year and like you I have an access panel in the rear bulkhead. Total time taken for 2 of us from start to finish was 6hrs, and that included nearly an hour farting about after we caught the fuel line out of the tank when reinstalling, and as the tank was almost full it focussed our attention somewhat. So in reality it can be done in about 5 hours no problem, but it does need 2 of you and a couple of good trolley jacks, just take the whole lot out swap the diff over then slide it all back in, much easier on the ground that under the car, just disconnect shocks and brake lines handbrake cable and prop.

| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? I thought the 2.88 jag diff was the most common and the least wanted. I have a 2.88 diff from a 1990 XJR-S. Low miles, Power lock and with all new output bearings and seals. I changed it to a 3.54 diff as I found the 2.88 too high for my car with a 350 chevy and a tremec box. If you can collect it you can have for free. No good to me anymore. Craig.

| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? Have you got the standard XJS chassis Dax or is it the DE-Dion XJ40 chassis? If it is the later ignore my post above. Craig.

| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? Hi Mark. I'm pretty sure the 2.88/2.87's were only fitted to V12 XJS's. Give Black Country Jaguar a call on:- 01384 892121 if you need a core unit. Having seen Craig's post...have his.

| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? Hi Craggle Thanks for your kind offer. I'll take you up on that. It will probably be cheaper for me to arrange a courrier collection if that's all right. I did originally have a 2.88 diff but I could not get any replacement bearings for it! I was told that this diff differed from a normal 2.87/2.88 and was identifiable by not having a lower drain plug. Does yours have a lower drain plug? Dave-yes it's Black Country Jag that I went too, who don't have a 2.87/2.88 P/L ![]()

| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? It does have a lower drain plug. There is a GKN logo cast in the case and the word DANA and some numbers. I would recomend changing the output shaft bolts as the wrong ones were sold to me when I replaced them. It should have the bolts that press into the output shaft but the ones fitted are lacking the larger diameter under the head so they rattle about a bit. I could change these if needed as I have a fly press in the garage so getting them apart is no problem and I could just charge you the cost of the 8 bolts from the local jag dealer and maybe £20 for my time.:thumb: The original cast aluminium rear cover was removed and fitted to my new diff so it only has the pressed steel one on there with a broken elbow on the breather tube. That apart the diff itself is absolutely fine and sounded quiet and smooth over the 250 miles I did with it. I can place some pics if required. Craig.

| Re: Anyone got a spare 2.87 Powerlock? Not a problem. I will organize some new bolts and get them fitted, drain the oil and Find a small pallet and strap it down then contact you again to arrange collection. I'll see if I can post some pics to you as well. Keep in touch. Craig.
