| Is the cost of Cobra headers & side pipes ridiculous Hello.. been talk'n to some fellows.. inquire'n on Cobra headers & side pipe exhaust systems for their Cobra's. Most of course want stainless steel. Anyway the cost they tell me is around 2000 to 2400 GBP....excuse me i said thats $4000 to $4800 USD.... i'm sorry but that price is insane. Question is that the normal retail price of most Cobra exhaust systems..for say G/D and AK and DAX and Pilgrim , Hawk ect ect.... Cobra kit cars. Just curious.................... Dr,Dee |

Those prices are for underslungs - not for bling bling shiny sidepipes I don`t know what GD charge for sidepipes, but I shouldn`t think there`s much(if any) change out of £1500 for manifolds/sidepipes/brackets VAT etc??

| Re: Is the cost of Cobra headers & side pipes ridiculous Hi Daryl. I think a full SS side pipe and headder system generally run from around £1500 to about £2000 depending where they come from.:thumb:

| Re: Is the cost of Cobra headers & side pipes ridiculous Darryl, whichever way you look at it the prices are ridiculous, I have struggled with fabricating a set of underslungs due to the extortionate price then later gone back to the sidepipe route, I am now putting together a set of Custom chrome sidepipes (5") bought in a kit, the headers I am fabricating from 2" stainless bends I can get for a £5 each from a mate who runs a tube bending shop, the flanges I am cutting from 10mm plate,a lot of graft to get what I want but £2000!!! stainless has gone up in price but we do get shafted, its all about wether you can afford/willing to pay the ticket price, may be because I'm a tight Yorkshireman? like to think its more about value for money!! bah humbug!!! Yep, I think I paid around £2400 for mine and that was early 2006. Probably went up by another £100 or so knowing Dax.

| Re: Is the cost of Cobra headers & side pipes ridiculous Total rip off, local stainless fabricators will make them for a lot lot less. You need to decide what you want and wirte a spec, or better still, do the fab, cutting etc then get them welded up by any stainless welder, if youre not 100% certain get them tacked first. OK a bit of to-ing and fro-ing but a lot of savings to be had. We made a set of underslungs for a 'stang for less than £200 (parts cost) Its not that difficult. I suppose it depends if you've got £2,000 plus burning a hole, amount of time you have available, and whether youre into making stuff or not.
