| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! I absolutely, completely 100% agree with you. I am fortunate enough to have a Spanish wife and once I get more qualifications on my engineering licence, I'm off. The only thing I will be waving as I leave on the ferry will be my two fingers. This country is pricing itself out of the market.*# |

| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! The sooner we scrap the NHS the better if you ask me. Virtually no one else has a state medical service, why should we be inflicted with one. x( Andy |

| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! Guys You don`t have to go as far as Spain, check this out....... I served my apprenticeship in the UK as a pipefitter. Working mostly on oil refineries I was working a minimum of 60 hours a week (often more than 80) Now I work 40hrs a week (very occasionally I work overtime - maybe up to as much as 4 hours in 1 month!! I have a full contract which means I am vertually un-sackable - even if the company has no work for me (sackable for disciplinary reasons obviously) I get 38 paid holiday days per year If I am sick I get 100% sick pay I have a very nice pension to look forward to (in the long distant future) June 1st every year I receive 1 months salary as holiday pay My top line for 40 hours is vertually the same as in UK for 60 hours My take home pay (with all the extras we can get - eg coffee money, parking money, extra allowances for all number of things, mileage etc)for 40 hours a week is a damn site more than in UK for 60 hours a week yet I pay 42% tax!! (work that one out if you can) Bars are allowed to open (with permits) at all sorts of times of the day, meaning you can go for a beer anytime without worrying about closing time(I know of one bar that is open 23 hours a day only closing from 9:00-10:00am for cleaning) You can even smoke a joint in public if you are into that Now, why did I leave the UK??????? Just a thought Paul PS - I don`t know how the system works for other trades so don`t all go packing your bags just yet.

| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! Hey everybody, welcome to Sweden! My government think that it is perfectly ok to charge me 83% income tax and another 25% VAT! The snow has been falling for three days and everything is covered in thick layers of wet heavy snow! The only comfort is that my Cobra want be finished this year either so I wont miss summer, that much... ¦-0

| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! Sorry to disagree Andy, its not the health service dragging us down, its the do-good-pinko-leftie-scared-to-put-the-British-first-W&*&*kers giving our tax money to all and sundry that have never contributed a penny. Oh for a party slightly right of centre(but obviously not too far)that would put thier foot down and say enough is enough.WE ARE SHUT!!!!! Steve G GE427-Rover 281ci.

| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! I Would not mind if the govenment was up front with their taxes but britan's full of stealth taxes. In britan it's just expected that you get taxed out the market it is expensive living in the UK and the UK antiquated tax laws are only there becuase they server the govenrment. No matter who we vote for in our local/national elections nothing ever changes. why becuase one these peopel are in power they decide what they want and ignore the pubilc, but what about all the demographic studies that "NEW" labour does to get a idea of public support. Well I can tell you that a carfully chosen group of people will all ways give you the answer you want. you don't even have to do it by person just choosing the right area's. As it has been seen we are slowly making our move towards a 1984 type socieity and for the first time in over 100 years a britan can now be jailled indefintly WITHOUT a trial. and for what not thing a hanious as terrorism or even treason. for not giving a password to a british police officer. The problem with today's socieity is it's not for the people it's for the govenment and they are lineing their pockets too heavly, the evdence of this british public has stood as one against the govenment on one Issue previosuly the war in IRAQ this was NOT wanted even now it's still publically very unpopular. but look at 10-20 years ago the public did this before for the poll tax. But public opinion over threw that what nto now, Becuase the contempt that the govenment shows the citizens of the UK. and unfortunatly it's not boding well for the govenments. This is where I shall end, However If I ever get the money I will be buying a tropical island ( I really want a arcipelligo) and declaring my own sovreignty. Then building some good roads and spending the rest of my days blasting around without a care in the world |

| RE: Gordon Brown stole my tyres!!!!!!!! Steve I must admit I dropped real lucky I worked for a family run company through an agency for the first 12 months along with 35 other agency guys. Most of the other guys were from various other nations (not mentioning any so as not to start any sort of racist arguments etc) and to be perfectly honest, due to working practices in some of the other nations and language difficulties etc most of them were not very good at their work(read f###ing useless) but at that time the economy here was booming. As unemployment was very low at the time the company found it almost impossible to find decent tradesmen. Eventually the client told the company that they must have more of their own personnel on the job(hoping to be rid of some of the not so useless ones) so they picked out the best 5 and offered us contracts. Needless to say, after a bit of haggling I accepted and never looked back since. Most people in the construction industry are stuck with having to work through agencies, which, although the money is very similar there is very rarely any kind of job security and not many agencies give out the same benefits as I get(100% sick-pay,pension etc.) Now with the economy a little in decline most companies just aren`t hiring people on longterm or permanent contracts in fear of being stuck with too many personnel and not enough work. As far as fitters mates go, most could bluff their way into a fitters job through an agency, but the job security just isn`t there anymore. Just a thought Paul
