Fiero Chasis

Hi All

I am building what my wife describes as an "Ebay" Cobra I bought a fireo Chasis only to find that when I emailed them that Auto speciality have taken over there Cobra.

The first thing that has not worked for me is that the rear axel will not fit, I am using the Granada rear could it be tha my chasis is meant for a Sierra one?

Does anybody know if the Granada and Sierra mounting points are different?

Arthur

Re: Fiero Chasis

Hi arthur,
I don't know what the build manual is like for the Fiero, but it sounds like its not that good

Did they not tell you what running gear your chassis was designed for

Best advice would be to have a long chat with AS [ may be send some photos of your car to determine what you have]and get to know everything your not sure of.
Meanwhile there are some pics on their web site which may help you

Re: Fiero Chasis

AS is owned and run by the guy who used to do all the Cobra stuff for Fiero.

Re: Fiero Chasis

I thought that the Fiero was designed for Sierra donor only..

Cheers,

Re: Fiero Chasis

Even their web site has differing info, here's two quotes from the AS site:

"To complete your car, components from a Ford Sierra Saloon (1982-1994) are compatible with this kit."

and

"Parts required from donor vehicle Ford Sierra or Granada 86-92 (not 4x4): Rear sub-frame complete"

Hi Guy's thanks for the coments

I think I should get under a Sierra and find out if the sub frame is the same as mine.

The other option is to modify the chasis. I did ask AS for a build manual but was not offerd one, I went to the work shop and did get so help but they were a bit busy getting ready for a show.

Arthur

Re: Fiero Chasis

Arthur. Firstly Welcome :thumb: I think you will find that the Sierra/Granada rear end is identical from a dimension/mounting point of view :thumb: The differences are mainly, Hubs 4/5 stud and brake dimensions/drums/discs

Hi Chris thanks for that info its not what I wanted to here but thats life, Nice to here from a sussex man as im from Portslade noe living in Warwick.

The problem area is the two inner wishbone mounting points hit the chasis before the two front rubber mountings are in position I did wonder if you had to cut away some of the subframe mounting.

Does anybody have any build pictures of this area?

Regards Arthur
