K&N filter

Want to replace the air filter element - current one approx 14 inch by 3 inch - part no. stamped as "AC TYPE A212C", with inner/outer mesh, used as part of Moroso low-rider set-up. Is there a K&N equivalent - don't find the K&N site easy to navigate - is a K&N filter worth it ?
Thanks
Colin

I'd say it's the E-1650. Go to http://www.ybfilters.co.uk/ and do a product search for that product number. Price is £46.31, which appears to be including P&P and VAT.

There's also one up on eBay at present - search for item no 280054149774.

That's the one E1650, I've got one on mine, guaranteed for 10 yrs or 1.000.000 miles, never need to replace, just clean as per instructions. and yes they are well worth it.

Had a look at that filter - no inner wire. Trawled through the rest of the K&N site and found E3743 with inner wire. Assume this is what's needed.

Colin,

The filter material used in these is a fabric sandwiched between two wire gauze layers - so you shouldn't need the wire mesh on the inner and outer faces. The filter assembly should be rigid enough, and the extra mesh would just cut down the airflow, which is one of the main reasons for choosing a K&N, IMO.

The ultimate in terms of airflow has to be the one below - maximum surface area by ditching the filter top. However, I've yet to find one this side of the pond!

K&N filters....worth there weight in gold

Hello Colin...K&N air filter with blow through lid system best deal out there
system delivers more fresh air to your engine...via your hood scoop forcing fresh air into top of carb. Yes that boonet / hood scoop does provide a few free ponies. Using the blow through lid takes advantage of the scoops ram air effect.
Using these K&N systems will also save you money as they are reuseable
you just wash them and respray them & reload them and off you go.
Not as with paper element filters you toss and buy new one over the years with the K&N you save big dosh and score a few free ponies to boot.

We use 14" dia drop style kits no clearance issues in most Cobra kits except G/D...Cobras very tight those are 3" filter with drop base will not fit
you need 2" element with drop base and trim'n of base neck nessasary to clear hood..with air gap intakes and stock hood scope.
Cheers! my 1 pence worth
Dr,Dee
PS Kits go for approx 65 GBP approx

Not clear what purpose the inner wire on the K&N filter. Will go for one of these. Will call ybfilters tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

Cheers

Colin

K&N Filter

Re the inner wire you dont need it, most race filters dont have the inner wire support and due to bonnet height restrictions, its not easy to get an air filter that will breath adequately on cobra race engines! I am running a 14" X 3.5" K&N 3728R grey filter and it doesnt get oiled so its supposted to breath easier!
