State of Tune ford 302

Anyone got any thoughts (I expect a few have) on where it is best to spend the money on an initial engine build. i.e which bits to replace now with a mind to upgrading others later.

Can I run a performer plus cam and lifters with normal manifold/carb and heads or does the whole lot need changing at once.

conversly can I put a performer manifold and carb on with stock heads/cam and lifters?

Also do you have to replace the push rods and timing stuff if the Edlebrock website says you do?

I know the best will be achieved by doing it all at once but cash may not allow that, depends on how long I take to rebuild the engine!

Anyone found a really good way of cleaning an engine block, without destroying the cam bearings?

thanks guys.

(nearly got the garage now!!)
