"Cobra" rocker covers

I found this listing on Ebay for some Cobra rocker covers a set of performance gaskets, a conversion plate for rover v8's and a choice of Edelbrock or Holley oil breathers. The starting bid is at £125 I emailed him asking how much he wanted for them as a buy it now kind of deal and he said £160 with the postage included in this price. Ive seen the rocker covers for arround £200 on their own. I got them today and they are cracking quality and brand spanking! I was well chuffed with my purchase and let him know, and he e.mailed me back and said to let others know I think may want a set so here I am. Im not sure how many he has?

Use the details on the listing to contact him

Let him know that Will who bought some of him pointed you in his general direction. It's nice to let him know I was true to my word.

Cobra rocker covers

I bought a pair from the same guy last year amd they have proven to be of good quality, although the sealing of the conversion plates took a while (they are a little thin in my opinion).

I would recommend this seller as he was true to his word with me and completed the sale promptly, despite cheque only preference.

Happy shopping

Ian

A question for you guys.

I have a customers Sumo SEV (the cortina one) undergoing a rover V8 upgrade.
He would quite like a set of these covers however there is not very much room between the existing rover rocker cover and the servo.
How much wider are these covers over the standard, if any?
I would hate for him to order a set and find they don't fit.

Cheers

Andy

That is quite encouraging. They don't look to be very much bigger at all.
Can I ask what you mean by "standard covers" and how much do they cost?

Thanks

Andy

For standard just meant without "Powered By Ford" wording. Kit with the following was GBP 210 - you just need to add postage (it cost GBP 40 to send them to me in Holland).

- a pair of covers
- a pair of adaptor plates
- a pair of gaskets
- inlet breather
- PCV valve
- all screws required for the conversion (in stainless steel)
- instruction sheet
- 2" spacer (the black bit below the carb body) to raise up the carb to clear the throttle linkage with long studs & gasket.

Cheers

Andy,

I just bought a pair of brand new Edelbrocks with adapters from Jim at JRV8 for £130 plus £15 for express 48 hr postage (Thoughly recommend them as a supplier - very helpful). As the Cob was in at Hallmark cars for an engine problem they fitted the covers at the same time. Syd there knows the minor issue they had as you are correct - they come very close to the servo - 10mm. It wasn't a major issue as I understand it.

They look fantastic.

If you want before and after pics then send me your email address to andy_thwaites@btinternet.com. (I tried uploading one, but it bombed out - i have no idea what size images the website will accept).

Cheers, Andy

Re: "Cobra" rocker covers

I also bought a pair of covers recently - excellent quality and delivered as promissed. I'm having a little difficulty in fitting them as a lever on the throttle shaft/linkage, drivers side, is fouling the cover. Did you have the same problem? In a later post in this thread a 2" spacer is mentioned, not an option for me as the air filter would foul the bonnet.

Didn't have that problem, but as I said the engine was being rebuilt so Hallmark Cars actually ended up fitting them. The only minor problem was closeness to the clutch and servo. I guess it depends what carb you have regarding the linkage.
