Ballast resistor

If I was a ballast resistor would current flow through me in both directions.
It does not appear to be marked is it un directional.
Crude looking thing, looks like a stone with a terminal at each end !

But the amps go through quicker downwards, 'cos of the gravity assist.

Ah excellent I will fit it vertically then pointing to wards the coil.
Faster amps =more bhp.
