Reading DVLA Office Warning

Have just had the very nice man from the DVLA at Wimbledon do my inspection this morning, very fast turnaround, they only received my paperwork last week

I happened to mention that a friend had been waiting for several weeks to hear from the Reading office for his appointment after his Dax had passed it's SVA (Nobby ). He then informed me that was because Reading do NOT have ANY inspectors there at the moments

He advised contacting an alternative office to get an inspection carried out

Hope this helps anyone in the same situation as Nobby

Noel

Reading & DVLA Docs

As I was going to Reading, I will rethink.!!

Regarding the docs, is an Insurance certificate required at the point of the first submission of V55/5 and build up, or only at the inspection date.??

As I dont want to get into the cancelling of insurance policy scenario!!

Cheers for the heads up!

Yes you need insurence cover note as you have to TAX the car.

Check with the office that you are going to that you do not need MOT as well as Borhamwood office insisted that I had one or I would get Q plate weird or what

It looks like I will loose my insurense payment as spoke to DVLA today and they have not got around to processing mine yet. I submitted on 4th April

they are not even sure that they want to inspect. What a complete bunch of wankers

No mention was made this morning of insurance when the DVLA inspected and you do not need to produce insurance at the SVA

I gather you only need to produce insurance to tax the car

They will not process your registration with out taxing the car so will need insurence then, not for inspection

DVLA Delays

Thanks for the update Noel.

Terrific. I've lost count of the calls I've made to Reading DVLA chasing the inspection. I was told yesterday that it's been passed to Newbury and is on the inspectors desk and he will call me to arrange an inspection date. I can't call Newbury as they just pass me back to Reading.

I've only been waiting 5 weeks so far!

The icing on the cake was when they then told me it could take another 6 weeks or so?

Trouble is they have my precious MAC certificate. How long before that get's lost?

I feel an official complaint coming on.

My guy from Wimbledon said you could get it done there, if you brought it down they could do it on the spot???? It might cost you some more money again........but 6 weeks :shock

Thanks Noel, Don't suppose you have a phone number and name do you? I'll try and get my documents back from Reading next week and go to Wimbledon instead.

Cheers
