My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

I'm afraid it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Tragic enough for the poor innocent people in the VW Golf but the stupid, cowardly a**eholes who ran away deserve everything they get!

The thread does not hold back. but there seems to be a whole other language going on.

not a good move, seen some of the tv prog on the gumball and I am not surprised, some of the people featured are on another planet.

Rob, no offence, just commenting on the people featured on the tv.

No offence taken chap, I have never been on the gumball. I did the Cannonball which is for normal people.

Inevitable wasnt it

It was only a matter of time in my opinion; at the end of the day, we all know that however cleverly its presented, were really talking about racing on the roads with these events; which is fine for the people taking part, but innocent bystanders going abot their daily business on public roads haven't made the choice to be involved.

Did anyone read the Performance Bikes magazine article a while back about the Cannonball run? Shooting across junctions, and red lights at high speed, all sort of really crazy stuff, made me feel uncomfortable just reading it.

Now Im not saying that every Gumball/Cannonballer behaves like that, but it doesnt take much imagination to see that the top runners in both events must be taking and putting other people at risk.

Sorry if this is seen as being a wet blanket, and of course we dont know yet whose fault the accident was, but if it was the Gumballers fault, then you have to ask yourself how would you feel if they had killed your father and your mother was lying in hospital critically injured?

If you really want to go racing, get a licence..

Sounds as if they have done the right thing and cancelled the rest of the race.
