Fire extinguisher systems.

Its been a while since this one has been discussed (well on the posts my search turned up its around 2004!) and I am thinking that whilst Im building up I should consider laying in the system.

Things have also moved on a bit now and life line do gaseous system that replaces halon, the lifeline 360. http://www.lifeline-fire.co.uk/firee...motorsport.htm

I fancied that the gaseous system would be better should the system be accidentaly discharged and as the gas is not totally directional, unlike foam, it should give better engine bay "fill".

Another plus point is that the 2.25l system has a small bottle but comes with 6 nozzles, 4 engine, 2 cockpit. The 2.25l foam system only supports 2 nozzles.

Does anyone know anything more about this type of system? I am thinking of the electrically operated one so it can be triggered from a dash switch on each side, with appropriate locks outs when the ignition is off.

To protect the system in a front end fire Im hoping to mount the tank in the boot with the feed pipe running up the chassis to the front, does this sound like a good idea?

Price is obviously a consideration, but in real terms it isnt. Ill happily spend ££'s on getting the right gauges or finishing bits ,but something so important yet hopefully never to be used should get greater priority.

cheers

You can see the OMP plumbed in my hawk on this shot, never used it in anger though-thankfully.

i have only installed this system into a m3 and a vxr220

the plan is to put one in the gd two, think i will hide the bottle in the offside wheel arch compartment. or in the boot, in the middle of roll bars.
