Small world

I bought a std bore 351C block off ebay, and when the guy came over to deliver it, it turns out he's aiming to build a Crendon, and also bought with him two other blocks, another on std bore and one with a cracked liner, a couple of std grind cranks, two sets of rods etc etc that I took off his hands.
Turns up one of the blocks (that I bought to get the main bearing caps) is the engine that was originally in my Crendon and suffered liner damage; what a small world we live in.
He enjoyed an early morning pootle out in my car, which I think convinced him his decision to go Crendon was the rght one, a real nice guy called Lee from Warrington area.

What's the plan? A new 351 on the way?

See? Common as muck these days, John will just let anyone have one of his cars (unless they want a Chevy engine that is.....)

I thought I was getting rarity value when I bought mine, and now look.

Yep, I'm going to collect the parts I want and build a fresh 351C motor with a more go and a bit less weight, and then do a swap when its all together.

Not sure what Im going to do with my spare 351C blocks, but I believe in buying rarer stuff when it turns up, and worrying about it afterwards; not exactly a cunning plan but its worked very well for me thus far!

Take a look here for heads and manifolds - Very nice !!!!!!!!
www.airflowdynamics.com

What heads do you have on your current motor 2v or 4v ?,
mine are the aussie heads that combine the smaller ports
and valves of the 2v and the higger compression quenched
chambers of the 4v.

Are you going for larger displacement Steve, seem to remember seeing these 351c as a 400+ c.i.,how do they arrive at that; bore or stroke?
Whatever, these motors certainly seem to have been a legend in their lifetime.

Paul.

Hi Paul

Have a look at this link it has a moving image to explain how it works.
www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2003/09/stroker/

You increase the stroke by fitting a new crankshaft with longer rod journals.

Hi Terry, I can understand this now, always wondered why these stroker motors were slightly over bored too, now I see why! Excellent 'laymans terms' article, great stuff!

Paul.

Hi Ti

Yes I posted that link a few weeks back; Dave at AFD is a nice guy.
My existing 351 motor has aussie 2V quench heads with 4v inlet valves on an aussie 302 block.

Cant decide whether to go stroker or not though.
