It all depends on the rest of the components of the engine (heads/compression ratio/carb etc etc) and the type of use the car will see, but looking at www.summitracing.com hydraulic cam/lifter kits sell for between $70 and $400+. Solid cam/lifter kits are $165-$400+.

Like I said, it all depends on the state of tune/usage of the engine.
First get your overheating problem diagnosed, then take it from there.

looking at real steel approx costs of parts are
Cam and kifters £130
upper gasket set £35
Bolts £35
and a day to strip and rebuild if you did it yourself

I can't do it..........

If I did can you imagine the pickle I would get into, ask me to cut a roof on, hang a door & frame or fitout an entire shop and I am as happy as a pig in S#*t. It's a horses for courses situation, and when it comes to this depth of repair / diagnosis I am well out of my depth.

I have asked DJS to carry out analysis before making a move after chatting on this forum.

Which oil did you reccomend last night?

After fault is found and fixed, don't forget to replace with new anti
freeze/water mix !!
