Ford 351W

Hi guys,
I am in the process of building a 351W but it's "doin me ed in" looking on the net at so many options regarding performance stuff x(

Could some of you Ford people out there tell me what spec your motors are ie, cams, heads, I/manifold, carb etc and how your setup drives in the real world or..........as I mentioned in another post go with the easy option, the Edelbrock performer package as a one stop choice.

Hell the more you look for info the more confusing it gets :}

Regards Shane

Hi Shane.

Have you got a copy of desktop dyno? If not then let me know via private e-mail.

You can build your engine on the computer first and see how it will perform. Therefore saving lots of time and money on parts that are no use.

RE: Ford 351W

Didn,t know you were a Form man Vince. When did you take up sailing.

I wont bore you with my comments regarding the performer RPM package, I think I,ve aired that one enough, sufficient to say try and test drive somebody who has one first.

Are you going to Hraewood show on Sunday per chance.

Regards.
Mike.

RE: Ford 351W

Shane,

I have a 351W and wanted to build it for reliability and performance but not too radical.

My build site is http://www.priveye.com/cobra.htm where there are some buildup shots and links to suppliers.

I started with a short block. That is, the block and rotating assembly. I had the builder use a stock crank, TRW forged 9.5 pistons, Edelbrock Performer cam, Edelbrock timing chain and gears.

From there I added AFR 185 heads, Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, Performer intake and a Barry Grant Speed Demon 650 carb.

I've got 15k on it and going into my third year. The car has been at open track events and I am very pleased with the performance.

Hope this gets you started,
Roscoe
