There certainly seems to be different ways that the DVLA do this. My Date of first registration is 29 10 1968 the same date shown on the V5 of my donor vehicle, while my Date of First Registration in the UK is 07 08 2006 the date of my DVLA inspection.
As Andy says, the emissions are stated on the MAC Certificate which is retained by DVLA on registratin.
Incidentally the rules regarding Kit Car engine emissions for MOT are different than those for production cars.

Hi Andy,
It would seem that the person at the DVLA who registered your car didn't know what he was doing then. The MAC certificate should be retained by DVLA and it does not surprise me that the dates on your V5 are not correct!

Appologies if I confused people.
Sorry Andy

I should have read a bit harder as it clearly says MAC certificate!

I didn't copy my MAC certificate as I was expecting to get it back but is was retained by the DVLA.

Craig.

I was having a debate with the people at the DVLA in Swansea from December last year until June this year regarding what should be stated in the dates section of the V5, sometimes the info entered on the V55 for the registration application can vary depending on who in the local DVLA office completes the form and this will affect what it states on the V5 in reality though the V5 should read 2007 in both places. This does not suit me one little bit as it virtually rules out the possibility of exporting cars fitted with carburettors, So as you can imaging I have ragged at this like a Terrier to no avail.
I have explained to them that the "2007" in both boxes aproach leaves the vehicle open to mis representation when sold on as there is not firm indication as to the age of the donor parts but this acheived nothing.
It does not help when questioning them over this as their records show all the info (They do not see an image of the info that is on the V5 on their computer screen).
I had some "New broom sweeps clean" jobsworth (Who has written an internal booklet on the subject which is to be/has been circulated to all local offices) at my local office spell it out to me in no uncertain terms that 2007 in both boxes was the correct way. I did ask him to show me the book that they use to catagorise the cars and he would not let me see it as I might be able to defraud them in some way.
To reinforce my point I presented him with copies of a number of previous cars I had registered that come back with 2 dates and all he said was "If you would like those correcting then send them back to Swansea with an attached note highlighting the mistakes"

In all my conversations with them I also made a point of saying that I was not looking for "Historic vehicle" status, so they knew I was not trying to con them.
I have also spoken to Paul Jepson (The SVA/Registration application guru) and he is not able to influence this either.....And he has friends in high places!

Has that answered your question?

P.S. MAC (SVA) Certificates should be retained by the DVLA when registering the car.
Getting duplicates of these has been stopped as some numpty was pulling a fast one and changing the details in order to register multiple cars with one pass cert. So if you want a spare then take a camera or scan it.
