| What registration is it on? Mine is registered in 2005 and first use in the UK as 2005 but the registration is the year of my donor vehicle (1979) Emissions are done on the age of the engine so it is the standard 3.5% CO levels for me. I have not had any MOT's yet in the 2 years since building it. I have always payed the tax online and it goes through the system without saying you need an MOT. I can only assume this is the 3 year on new car rule. Craig.

| Hi Jon, From your post and the signature it appears to me that the DVLA have given you an age related plate corresponding to your donor ("J" Plate). If that is the case then as far as I'm aware the "Date of First Registration" on your V5 should correspond to the donor car, whereas the "Date of Firest Registration in the UK" should be the date that you registered your kit car with DVLA. Regarding the MOT, if you have a MAC certificate, then you do not require an MOT test for three years, as you do with any new car.

| Checked last night - V5 reads; "Date of First Registration" and "Date of First Registration in the UK" both read 2007. How does the MOT tester know the engine is from the 1980's, all his documentation on the V5 relates to a 2007 car, even though the car is running a J-plate ? Jon

If you applied for an age related plate and had your car inspected by the man from the ministry (DVLA) and your car met the requirements of at least two major components from the donor vehicle, I think there is a mistake on your V5. As I said in my previous post, I am sure the "Date of First Registration" should be the same as the donor vehicle, and the "Date of First Registration in The UK " should be the date it was registered after the SVA. I would give the DVLA a ring and ask them to check it out as it might cause problems at a later date.

| Clives right. I have just had a look at my V5 and the date of first registration is 15-03-1979 The date of first registration in the UK is 08-07-2005 In the special notes section on the front page it states rebuilt - assembled from parts some or all of which were not new. SVA certificate issued 21-08-2005 Emission limit -%CO 4.5; HC 0.12 Craig.

| John, your V5 is correct, it is the date your COB was first registered & the date your COB was first registered in the UK, so the dates should be the same as you state. This will not mean you wont gat an age related plate. Both my dates show 2003 but I have an old, old 'H' reg, which means I am tax exempt as well...... As for MOT testing if you look at your MAC certificate about 3/4 of the way down on the left hand side under the box for 'Fuel Type' are 2 smaller boxes which are labelled 'CO2' & 'HC', if you are exempt from emmissions testing these should state N/A in each, keep hold of your MAC cert or scan it into your computer and do a colour copy, and take it with you when you get your 1st MOT in 3 years time, that way there is no quibble with the tester. I've just checked my documents so I know the above to be correct.

| Seems to be different DVLA offices having their own rules again? My V5 has nothing stated in the emissions section inside.Just the notes on the front page. Craig.
